Yes, if LATHER soaps are properly cared for they will last longer than commercial soaps. Proper care includes allowing soaps to dry out between uses and keeping them out of direct water when not in use.

Olive oil is very moisturizing to the skin. It is rarely used in soaps anymore because of its high cost. LATHER soaps are specially formulated to better match skin’s natural pH and maintain a healthy balance.

All LATHER products are appropriate for both men and women; however we offer an Almond Shave Crème, Citrus Pre-Shave Oil, and Peppermint After Shave Balm specifically tailored for men’s shaving needs. Other men’s favorites include our Clove Soap, Sea Kelp Body Wash, Licorice Root Eye Treatment and Daily Defense Treatment with SPF 26.

LATHER searches the world for the finest natural ingredients. Our products contain rare ingredients like yuzu from Japan, shea butter from Uganda, bamboo from India, and monoi and kukui nut oils from Hawaii.

Preservatives are a necessary part of all grooming products. Without preservatives, creams and gels would become a breeding ground for microbes. Preservatives are used simply to prevent the growth of or destroy microorganisms that would otherwise damage our products. With the recent concern over parabens, we have reformulated most of our products to replace parabens with a combination of natural and synthetic preservatives that are gentler to the skin. Our aim is to have all of our products paraben-free by mid-2010.

LATHER is committed to maintaining strict environmental policies. LATHER does not conduct animal testing and our products contain no animal by-products. We recycle our packaging whenever possible.

Exfoliating is important part of a skin care regimen. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the skin's surface and keeps skin looking healthy and smooth. LATHER's Peppermint Skin Polish, Cranberry Sugar Rub, or Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub is recommended for the body. For the face we recommend Bamboo Silk Foaming Face Scrub, Yuzu Sugar Cane Body Buff, or Sweet Almond Exfoliating Crème. Consult our Face Chart for product advice on your particular skin type.

It is possible to be allergic to one of the natural ingredients in our products. If allergies are a possibility, please test a small quantity of product on a small patch of skin, if no allergy surfaces within 24 hours, then the product is safe to use.

No, LATHER does not test on animals nor will we work with labs that conduct animal testing. We are a proud member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and are listed in their annual Shopping Guide for Caring Consumers.

Perfume oils are generally synthetic and have been created to smell like a specific plant, fruit, or other aroma. Both perfume essences and essential oils provide scent to a product, but only essential oils have added medicinal properties. Obtained directly from the plant, essential oils are naturally complex with as many as 175 different chemical components. Duplicating these scents using synthetic components is near impossible.
