3 Simple Wellness Habits For A Happy, Healthy Life

In 2022, it feels like our society’s culture is focused on productivity and external success. If we get just one more thing done, then we can take time to rest and be happy. Unfortunately, this continuous race can come at the expense of our health and wellbeing.

If we’ve learned anything the past two and a half years, it’s that nothing is more important than our physical and mental health. The good news is: incorporating small changes into your daily routine can have a deep impact on your overall wellbeing. Not sure where to get started? Explore our top three wellness tips below.

Daily Activity

It’s no secret that exercise can have a profound effect on our mental and physical health.

In addition to multiple physical benefits like reducing the risk for disease and strengthening our bodies, exercise triggers a release of endorphins, hormones that block pain receptors and create feelings of happiness and peace.

Although you might associate exercise with a 5:00 am spin class, it doesn’t have to be an intense workout in a gym or studio. We recommend finding a physical activity that you truly enjoy and making it a part of your weekly routine. The best exercise is the one that you can do consistently.

Some of our favorites: daily mental health walks during our lunch break, early morning energizing yoga, and cycling through our neighborhood.

Rest & Recovery

Did you know that adequate rest is just as important as exercise? When our lives become busy, a common response is to try and get as much done as possible. However, taking time for rest is more effective than scrambling to get everything completed. When you’re well rested and focused, you’ll be able to return to your to-do list with a clear mind.

PHYSICAL REST

Whether you’re running errands all afternoon, out hiking with friends on the weekend, or playing with your kids outdoors, your body requires wind-down time. Sleep is important but relaxing rituals play a big role in physical rest. If you’ve been on your feet all day, try our Muscle Ease Duo. This duo provides comforting relief to tired muscles and leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

EMOTIONAL REST

If you were to list all of the priorities in your life, how long would it take for you to get to self-care? In between career, family, friends, and relationships, we put ourselves last more often than we’d like to admit.

Taking time for yourself might not feel natural at first, and that’s why we suggest you set aside time in your calendar as you would for other appointments. Run yourself a warm bath, drop in a soothing Lavender Bath Bomb, start your favorite calming playlist, and allow yourself to fully relax.

MENTAL REST

Most people experience stress at some point in their lives. But did you know that chronic stress is one of the leading contributors to anxiety, insomnia, and even a suppressed immune system?

One of the most efficient ways to combat stress is mindfulness. This can be especially effective if your mind races before bedtime. We’ve created a night time mindfulness ritual to make this easy.

Get comfortable in bed and spray your pillow with the Quiet Night Pillow Mist. Take five deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Listen to the sound of your breath and if your mind begins to wander, bring it back. Use this breathing technique until you feel calm and centered.

Unplugging

Between laptops, cell phones, tablets, and televisions, our brains rarely have time for a break. This continuous use of electronic devices can be information overload for our brains with a constant stream of news and social media. Additionally, these items emit blue light which keeps our brains active and alert making it difficult to fall asleep at night.

Interested in a digital detox? Simply set a timer on your device and place it in another room to charge out of sight for an hour or two. Alternatively, give yourself a “device bedtime” and put all of your electronics away for the remainder of the evening. During this time, enjoy some downtime with family, read a book, or indulge in a relaxing self-care ritual.
