1. What does your job entail?

As the CEO/founder of LATHER, my job is to be the visionary of the company. In other words, I’m most focused on the future of LATHER. This involves strategic planning for all aspects of the business, such as new product development, and future marketing initiatives, team and resource development, as well as problem-solving current business needs as well.

2. Did you always want to do this job?

No. After college, I worked in public relations.

3. What did it take to get here?

A lot of hard work, faith, and perseverance!

4. What does a day in life look like for you?

It really is different every day, but mostly a combination of meetings, brainstorming, new product development, and problem-solving.

5. Who was your role model growing up?

My mother! And Oprah- like most women my age! 😊

6. What advice would you give someone looking to one day have this role?

It can be very lonely so it’s important to make sure you have an outside network of peers and mentors to support the journey.

7. What has been your greatest inspiration? Is there a particular quote, life motto, or unforgettable advice you’d like to share?

Nothing is as good or bad as it seems.

Caroline - COO

  1. What does your job entail?  I run the day-to-day operations of the business. Basically, "keep the trains running."

  2. Did you always want to do this job? I started my career in PR/Marketing but found along the way that I like to have my hands in everything! This job suits me in that way, I'm involved in all aspects of the business.

  3. What did it take to get here? A lot of career pivots, privilege, good timing, a lot of risk taking and a lot of soul searching.

  4. What does a day in life look like for you? I feel like I've lived a full day before 9am due to my precocious and amazing 2-year-old daughter. The workday is a lot of meetings with different departments in the business, problem-solving, putting out fires and offering support where needed.

  5. Who was your role model growing up? For a while, it was Jann Carl, former host of Entertainment Tonight. She got to interview all the celebrities on the red carpet before big award shows. I've always loved award shows and thought if acting wasn't in the cards for me, her job would be my dream job.

  6. What advice would you give someone looking to one day have this role? Be kind, be curious, get in the weeds on the business you're in and really understand it. Know your worth, talk to your trusted friends/family/peers about money. It's a vulnerable topic, but it's a powerful feeling when you can come armed with knowledge around your value in the context of the market. I have found especially with women; we undervalue ourselves constantly. And above all else, care. Care about your team, your business, the industry that you're in. Every day isn't going to be the best day ever, even when you're doing something you love, but passion for something can usually get you through even the most frustrating of days.

  7. What has been your greatest inspiration? Is there a particular quote, life motto, or unforgettable advice you’d like to share?  Trust your gut. Intuition is our greatest superpower.

Emilie and Caroline's stories are a testament to the resilience, determination, and authenticity that drive LATHER forward every day. So let's carry their lessons with us as we continue our own journeys, knowing that with passion, purpose, and a little bit of intuition, anything is possible.
