My LATHER Journey
Posted on February 24 2020
"In 1999, I was watching a shopping channel. They were presenting a new line of skin care products called Lather, with the founder and creator of these products. Her name was Emilie.
I listened intently as I was a self proclaimed ‘beauty product junkie’. Emilie shared her story of excruciating migraine headaches throughout her life and how she actually created this line of products for herself, but wanted to share them with the world as well. I did not suffer from migraine headaches, but was very interested in her products.
Emilie came across as very genuine, compassionate and honest. One of the products she presented was a Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub, which was meant to exfoliate off any dry, dead skin that we all have on our body. I remember the price being very reasonable for the amount of product in the container and the quality ingredients that were mentioned as well.
I remember saying to myself, ‘Oh I have to try this, I’m intrigued and I have never tried any products with bamboo or lemongrass in them let alone a body scrub’. Soon I received the scrub. I remember opening the container and inhaling the freshest, cleanest most uplifting scent I had every smelled and yet it was subtle and calming.
I used my new scrub the next morning and absolutely loved the way it left my skin feeling which was clean, soft, supple and very smooth. I knew I would be a life long lover of Lather’s Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub.
As the years went on I continued my ‘beauty product junkie’ lifestyle. Switching from product line to product line, too many to name and all promising to be the best in their field. All while still using Lather’s Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub and reordering many, many times. To this day I use it once a week: I always use it from neck to toe on ‘change the sheets day’ to get off a weeks worth of dead skin and get in my fresh sheets with super clean skin. I consider it one of my weekly self care treats to myself.
Then December 1st, 2010 I was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a lump in my breast. The following year was full of endless doctors’ appointments, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, physical therapy and a myriad of thoughts, emotions and questions.
I knew this experience happened for a reason. I had to figure it out for myself. My journey took me to my next level of self-awareness, which was to eat as healthy as I could for myself, which for me meant I would go plant-based. In addition to eating healthy I would delve into other aspects of my environment, which meant looking into topical products as well, that I used on a daily basis.
During my research I found out that our bodies absorb a percentage of what we put on our skin. After looking into some of the ingredients I was using on my skin I knew I had to make changes. I was on a quest to find and use the best quality skin care ingredients that I could find that were healthy, gentle, and non-toxic as well as cruelty free, which was of equal importance to me. That meant from head to toe: soaps, lotions, serums, shampoos, conditioners, and oils, anything that would touch my skin.
During my Internet searches, I was bombarded with brand upon brand of skin care companies. Honestly, it was becoming overwhelming. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.
Then one day I realized the one constant in my arsenal of skin care products that never waivered was my Lather Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub that was always right there in my shower over so many years, so I started looking into the Lathers ingredients more closely.
There were numerous ‘ah ha’ moments as I went through Lather’s website and researched many, many products over the next few weeks. I had the quality ingredients I was looking for right at my fingertips all these years and I didn’t even realize it.
I use so many of Lather’s amazing products now, there are too many to mention, and I am extremely happy with them, as they are results based. And I do know for a fact, I am no longer on my search for the perfect skin care line and no longer consider myself a beauty product junkie because of Lather.
A prime example: I’ve re-ordered the Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Cleansing Oil so many times because I refuse go to bed until I wash my face with it. It gently removes my make up and I wake up with clear, radiant, even, hydrated, firm, supple skin!!
With Lather products I get the results I want and need at my age, I’m proud to say I’m 59 years old and constantly get comments on how incredible my skin looks. And yes, to this day I’m still using the Bamboo Lemongrass Scrub that I have been faithful to for the last 20 years.
Thank you to Emilie and the Lather Team for such wonderful quality products that truly deliver and a very Happy 20th Anniversary!!!"
